Friendsthemovie.com : domain not from Warner!

2008/07/29 - Kenny Denruyter, networkadmin Belgium
What about that Friends movie? Probably another bunch of rumours, although some people try to keep their hopes up by posting remarks on the internet regarding the registered domain name friendsthemovie.com. Even Wikipedia says it might be a reason why Friends the Movie is definitely coming...
But being a network admin, I digged deeper than the average webmaster and found out that friendsthemovie.com was not registered under the name of Warner Brothers.

Friends Reunited

The Sunday Times July 13, 2008 Friends Reunited
Friends the movie might be fun, but it will never compete with the appeal of Sex and the CityShane Watson I was flicking through the ads in American Vogue, as you do, and suddenly, there was Jennifer Aniston, lying on a jetty in wellington boots and jeans, lending her wholesome image to a brand of bottled water. Oh, don’t you miss Jennifer? I don’t mean pinched Jennifer in the passenger seat of a truck, with yet another pretty-boy heartbreaker at the wheel. I mean the real Jennifer, with the smart one-liners and the signature haircut. I mean Rachel. And Chandler. And Phoebe and Joey and the rest of the Friends gang.

The surprising success of "Sex and the City" (which has made just less than $150 million since its release in May) has ignited a spark under fellow television stars, encouraging them to follow suit. Does anyone have the courage to take on Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha at the box office? Apparently our favorite Central Perk customers do. Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc all plan to reprise their roles in a silver-screen version of the hit sitcom "Friends" within the next 18 months.

A cursory glance at Google Trends today shows that “Friends movie, Friends the Movie, Friends, Friends Film, David Schwimmer, Michel Sussman” searches are all hot today. But this time I believe the Friends movie scuttle-butt are more than rumors. Being a webmaster, I naturally checked on FriendsTheMovie.com and FriendsMovie.com domains.

Reports on the Internet and in print that Courteney Cox Arquette is bent on getting a big-screen "Friends" movie made on the heels of "Sex and the City's" success as a feature -- and that everyone but Jennifer Aniston is on board -- come as news to Lisa Kudrow. "As soon as we wrapped, there were rumors about a movie -- started by I don't know who -- but they've never been true," says the former "Friend" Phoebe. "The only thing I heard: It would have to be done by the people who created the show, and no one has made them interested enough to write it."

Schwimmer would turn down Friends reunion

David Schwimmer would turn down the opportunity to bring back his hit show Friends, because he is convinced it ended the right way.
Schwimmer is still best known for his role as Ross Gellar--four years after Friends ended--but he has no desire to play the paleontologist ever again.
Speaking while promoting his movie directorial debut, Run, Fat Boy, Run, Schwimmer says, "I don't think I would (play Ross again).
"The way it ended felt so right. I don't want to mess with it."

Kudrow 'gutted' Friends reunion is off

Former 'Friends' star Lisa Kudrow has reportedly confirmed that a reunion show was on the cards but claims that one of the male cast members turned down the comeback offer.
According to reports, the stars of the series were being offered a multi-million dollar incentive to record new episodes.
Actresss Kathleen Turner, who played Chandler's transvestite father in the show, recently revealed that she had been approached about making more episodes of 'Friends'.
Kudrow reportedly said: "There is an opportunity for the rest of us to do a reunion show but one member has said no. It's one of the guys. I'm gutted."
